Oregon Part of FAA Designated UAV Test Site

On December 30, 2013, the FAA made their long-awaited announcement of the six Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) test sites in the nation. The University of Alaska’s proposal, which includes partnership with Oregon and Hawaii, was one of the six chosen out of the 25 proposals submitted. This is good news for the Gorge’s UAV industry as the selection will bring unique opportunities for UAV research and testing in Oregon in order to safely bring UAVs into the national airspace and expand the industry into new markets.
