Volunteer Requests to GTA

We have two volunteer requests for GTA Members: one for an Arduino robotics lab and one for Wind Challenge judges. More info:

Arduino Mentors: Wahtonka Community School in The Dalles is in the process of turning a classroom into an Arduino-based robotics lab. Student leaders will be making decisions on how to structure the room, what equipment and supplies to acquire, teaching themselves to program in “C”, and also designing, building and testing Arduino controlled robots. Within six months, the goal is to be able as a school to come to the lab with needs (i.e. a remote controlled robot arm to manage a raised garden bed that is at a remote site; small underwater robots to capture data on vernal pools) and also for fun things. One or two mentors are needed who love to work with quirky teens, have the ability to guide and not direct, and have afternoons available M-Th (any day or any combo of them) from 12:45 to 2:30. Please contact Brian Goodwin.

Wind Challenge Judges: CGCC and Google’s Wind Challenge (also mentioned in piece above) is in need of several judges. The time commitment is May 1 from 5:30 to 7 pm for a training (dinner will be provided) and May 2 from 10 am to 4 pm. Contact Peg Caliendo with questions or fill out the volunteer form right now!
